Who We’re Looking For
The Echoing Green Fellowship is tailor-made for early-stage entrepreneurs who are experts in the challenges they aim to tackle. We are on the hunt for leaders who not only reflect the communities they serve but also possess in-depth knowledge of the issues they’re addressing. As a fellow, you’ll work collaboratively with your community to co-design innovative solutions.
What to Expect
The Echoing Green application process is meticulously designed to be inclusive, constructive, and engaging. It offers resources to assist you as you prepare your application. Our team of expert reviewers will carefully evaluate your application materials, providing insights as you advance. If you make it to the finalist stage, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in interviews with expert panelists and be featured in our Talent Report. Finally, if you are selected for a Fellowship, your journey will begin with onboarding and ongoing guidance from our team.
Application Details
Before you apply for the Echoing Green Fellowship, it’s essential to understand the eligibility requirements:
Applicant Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older by June 1, 2024.
Proficiency in English is required to fully participate in the program.
You should be an original founder or a leading member of your organization’s founding team.
As an applicant, you must be the primary decision-maker for your organization.
You should be able to work full-time on your proposed organization throughout the 18-month Fellowship.
Organization Eligibility
Your proposed organization must operate independently and autonomously.
Organizations with fiscal sponsors are eligible as long as the sponsor has no authority over the organization’s work and decision-making.
Your organization or idea should be in the early stage of development and in need of financial and non-financial resources.
Your organization should not primarily engage in lobbying as per the U.S. Internal Revenue Service’s definition.
Your organization should not promote or recruit for a specific religious faith.
No founding team members or individuals in leadership positions within your organization can have previously received an Echoing Green Fellowship.
We prioritize four core attributes in social innovators:
Proximate Leadership: We seek individuals with lived experience in the communities they serve. You should understand the unique challenges faced by your community and work toward changing those systems.
Co-design Solutions: We look for innovators committed to co-designing solutions with and for their communities. Show how you involve your community in your decision-making.
System Change: We invest in leaders who aim to change systems. Explain how your work resolves the root causes of the problem you’re addressing.
Racial Equity: We are committed to racial equity. Show how your work contributes to equal opportunities for people of all races.
We define racial equity as an end state that allows all people to thrive. We recognize that racial equity looks different in each context, and it’s essential to demonstrate how your work addresses the unique challenges faced by the communities you serve.
Writing Your Application
When crafting your application, keep these tips in mind:
Give yourself ample time.
Clearly demonstrate why you are addressing the chosen challenge.
Be as specific as possible in your responses.
Use plain language to convey your ideas.
Take advantage of all available resources.
